About

Miloslav Kabelac is a Czech composer, conductor, organist, music teacher, one of the greatest composers of the Czech Republic, along with A. dvořák, L. janáček and B. martín.

He graduated From the Prague Conservatory and taught there since 1958. He directed the Prague radio orchestra (1932-1954). As a composer he was pushed away from the public sphere in socialist Czechoslovakia, his works, which were often based on themes and texts of the Bible, Hussite literature, national Chronicles, were extremely sparingly published and performed at home. Kabelac deliberately went his own lonely way (in this sense it is often compared with the Giacinto of Scelsi and Galina Ustvolskaya). He was the largest promoter of dodecaphony and electronic music in Eastern Europe. His writings in the 1950-1970-ies were performed abroad (including French ensemble Les Percussions de Strasbourg, who ordered Kabelac several essays).

Creativity
Kabelac owns eight symphonies, chamber, vocal and choral works (including words, Mr. Volcker, 1939-1940), Suite "ELEKTRA" for viola, female chorus and orchestra (1956, by sofocle), Passacaglia for extended orchestra "the Mystery of time" (1953-1957), improvisation for orchestra, "hamlet" (1962-1963, executed and recorded by Karel Anceram in 1963), four organ preludes (1963), cantata "the Mystery of silence" for soprano and chamber orchestra (1965), 6 paintings on themes of Czech Chronicles E fontibus Bohemicis (1965-1972), etc. composition. Among the few promoters of creativity Kabalaka in the socialist Czechoslovakia was a major conductor václav Neumann.
