Magdalena Gut was born in Poland and has lived in Austria since 1981. She first studied Slavic and theatre studies, then stage and costume design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. At the same time, she worked with Erich Wonder for five years in opera and drama productions.
Since 1998, Magdalena has worked as a stage and costume designer at various German-speaking theatres and opera houses, including the directors Tina Lanik, Wojtek Klemm and David Hermann, such as the Akademietheater Vienna, the Bavarian State Theatre, the Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Deutsche Theater Berlin, the Theater Neumarkt Zürich, the Luzerner Theater, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Frankfurter Schauspielhaus, the Hamburger Schauspielhaus, the Schauspielhaus Hannover and the Since 2013, she has also realized stage designs for productions at theatres in Poland.
In addition to her theatre work, she was a lecturer in the class of scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna for four years and led several Workshops at the Kunstuniversität in Linz.
In June 2014 she realized with Jürgen Flimm as part of the festival "infection!"the music theatre production" Macbeth " by Salvatore Sciarrino in the orchestra rehearsal hall of the State Opera Unter den Linden.
